Dane County Cultural Affairs Commission just approved a grant award of $4500 for 2008 Wisconsin Chinese Culture Day (WCCD)*, which is tentatively scheduled for May 31st, 2008.  This is the first time that MACCO received a grant from the DaneCounty Culture Affairs Commission;** the grant will cover up to 50% of the total project budget.  WCCD is a day of celebration by Wisconsin residents who are interested in Chinese heritage and culture, and it is endorsed by the Governor of Wisconsin, Jim Doyle. The first WCCD was held at Mifflin Street outside of the Wisconsin Capitol building on September 16th, 2006, it was a great success. In 2008, MACCO plans to celebrate the 2nd Wisconsin Chinese Culture Day in the same year that China will host the Olympic Games for the first time.   For the past five years, MACCO has proven to be a community leaderbringing persons of Chinese heritage and those interested in Chinese culture together.
